Ruben Mercado is a dynamic DJ bringing 18+ years of expertise to Soundwave. A career jock, his experience spans night clubs, radio and weddings. Downtown Orlando club goers know him as DJ Rubonix.

Ruben is an open format DJ.  His repertoire of music spans Pop, Hip Hop and Rap, Country, Latin, and House music. An exceptionally smooth mixer, he also throws in an occasional scratch here and there.

As DJ Rubonix, he has a current residency at Stagger Inn. He has spun at Wall Street, Devany’s Too, Jake ‘n Mickeys, Makos Downtown, to name a few. Additionally, he currently performs with Cox Media Group / K92.3 at various events and concerts throughout Orlando.

DJ Ruben has a keen ability to read a crowd whether it be a wedding or corporate event. No matter the age of the group, he excels at mixing up genres and decades of music keeping guests engaged and energized for the next song he mixes in. He’s an impeccable beat mixer who can make rock to country to hip hop all come together perfectly…a skill only highly experienced DJs can do seamlessly.

As Master of Ceremonies, MC, Ruben has a strong presence on the microphone keeping what needs to be said concise and professional. He has a charisma and energy that is exciting to watch when behind the decks. He is a stickler for timing and communication, skills essential to every wedding and event.

DJ Ruben is the proud father to Valentina, an elementary schooler. He was born in Manhattan and followed in his father’s footsteps in pursuing a lifetime of dee jaying. He moved from NY to Orlando in 1998 with his parents. He’s a committed family man, but when behind the sound system, DJ Ruben is in his element and delivers unparalleled celebrations time and time again.
