Melissa and David Pagan’s Central Florida wedding was a lovely and fun affair from beginning to end. Held on July 24, 2021, their wedding at the Lake Mary Events Center featured plenty of opportunities for unique lighting designs from our experts at Soundwave, and we were excited to return to one of our favorite stomping grounds.
Lighting Design for a Wedding at the Lake Mary Events Center
The couple opted for an intimate ceremony in a room flanked with floor-to-ceiling windows and endless amounts of natural light. Their evening reception was classy and soft, bringing in lots of opportunity for understated and transitional lighting as the sun set on the venue.
We brought gentle color to the inside space with our LED lights, illuminating the room with a gentle purple to reflect the wedding colors of the bride and groom. Soundwave provided the Monogram in Lights on the stage wall with purple hues of LED Wall Uplighting providing a main focal point in the space and a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
We added Centerpiece Pinspot Lighting to highlight the newlywed table and the wedding cake from their positions within the alcove at the front of the room. We also used the lighting design to frame the newlyweds’ silver accents, complementing Melissa and David’s vision for their wedding at the Lake Mary Events Center.
Your Perfect DJ for a Central Florida Wedding
To ensure that it was truly a night to remember, the bride and groom had an ingenious idea: capture it through film…but with a twist! Before the start of dinner, when guests were all still at their seats, Melissa and David requested that our talented Soundwave DJ Ray Vales announce to the room:
“The bride and groom have a challenge for all of you: the newlyweds want to take a photo with each group of guests at each respective table. Easy enough…however, here is the challenge: you all have only have 3 minutes to do this! So, you all must work together at each respective table. The photographer will come to each table and the assistant will get you all in position. But, you must act fast, you have three minutes total!”
As DJ Ray started the clock on those three minutes, “Hey Ya” by Outkast was the countdown song of choice. DJ Ray had fun with the countdown, keeping the energy going as the bride and groom rushed between tables and laughed with every guest in the room. This photo challenge was a fun twist on traditional wedding photos, and DJ Ray was happy to make the most of it!
In keeping with the fun and personal touches at this Central Florida wedding, the bride and groom had another surprise in store for everyone. After the food has been eaten, the cake had been cut, and the dancing had been going on for some time, DJ Ray asked all of the guests to make a circle around the dance floor. Melissa entered into the middle of the circle, and DJ Ray invited Melissa’s mom to join her for a very special surprise dance. The mother and daughter danced to “Mom” by Meghan Trainor, and Melissa’s surprise for her own mom was a successful and heartfelt one.
The dancing resumed and DJ Ray kept the party going until it was time to finally end what had been a fantastic day. Mr. and Mrs. Pagan shared their last dance with guests to “Last Dance” by Donna Summer. When the dancing ended and everyone left the room, the newlyweds were able to enjoy one last private last dance to “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett. We were honored to be part of this beautiful Central Florida wedding at the Lake Mary Events Center, and we loved getting to see Melissa and David start their own happily ever after.
